Dark Edinburgh gallery
Dark Edinburgh (opens in new window)
An ongoing experiment - I made a makeshift filter out of two toilet rolls, cut and taped together so they fit over my lens. Attached to this is six layers of 0.6 ND lighting gel. The purpose is to reduce the amount of light getting through to the lens, thus forcing a longer exposure. Also, the layers of gel affect the focus, creating a softer image. The images were cropped and converted to B&W in Photoshop, but this is the only manipulation involved.

Taken during October 2007 while on a (hopefully not) once in a lifetime holiday to China. Further galleries to follow for Shanghai and Hong Kong.
